The Neanderthal Genome

I'm happy to reverse my assumption that we had little in common with our ancient cousins. 

Seems we share 1 to 4% of our genetic sequence with our nearest hominin relative, homo neanderthalis.  This news appears to make Africans the original "pure-bred" Homo Sapiens. Apologists for the northern European notion of racial purity/superiority will have to recalibrate their pitch.
